KUALA LUMPUR – The police are still investigating on the Alleging had been held of the Minister of Plantation Industries and Commodities (MPIC), Datuk Dr Mohd Khairuddin Aman Razali and a woman in Perasing, Terengganu that went viral in the social media earlier.

The Bukit Aman Criminal Investigation Director, Commissioner Datuk Seri Abdul Jalil Hassan said, they have summoned 11 witnesses to record statement under Section 112 of the Criminal Procedure Code.

“Investigation is conducted by the Classified Criminal Investigation Unit, Prosecution and Law Division (D5), CID, Bukit Aman,” he said in a statement today.

According to Abdul Jalil, Bukit Aman has received a report on the social media post that went viral titled, ‘Viral Whatsapp of Khairuddin’s arrest in Perasing, Terengganu’.

He added, the allegation on the arrest of the Kuala Nerus MP was uploaded on Info Negara Kini’s website on 28 May.

According to him, the police need to identify the people who are responsible in uploading the post and record statements from other individuals related to the case before submitting the investigation paper to the Attorney-General’s Chamber for further instruction.

“PDRM advise the people not to make any speculations or spread baseless rumours without getting valid information from official sources in regards to the case.

“Any form of fake news utilising the social media platform is an offence under Section 233 of the Communications and Multimedia Act 1998,” he said. –MalaysiaGazette
