BALIK PULAU – A man is remanded for five days to assist in an investigation of feeding his baby with alcoholic drink, after the video of the incident went viral in the social media yesterday.

The remand order on the 19-year-old suspect was issued by Magistrate Khalijah Mohd Khalid at the Balik Pulau Magitrate Court today.

The suspect, who is also a part-timer at a grocery store was remanded for five days until 27 June to assist the police in the investigation.

Yesterday, MalaysiaGazette reported that the man who fed his baby with stout was arrested in Teluk Bahang.

The Barat Daya District Police Chief, Superintendent Kamarul Rizal Jenal said, acting based on information and intelligence, the police had arrested the 19-year-old suspect at 1.30 pm.

He said, early investigation found that the incident took place in March at his rented house in Kampung Telok Awak, Teluk Bahang.

“Based on police interrogation, the police found that the video was recorded by the suspect’s friend when the baby boy was five-months-old.

“Further investigation found that the suspect has 14 previous criminal records and is still under police observation,” he said when met at the Barat Daya District Police Headquarters.

He added, the victim who is currently nine-month-old is healthy. Nevertheless, he was brought to the hospital for further examination.

“The case is investigated under Section 31(1)(a) of the Child Act and Section 233 Of the Communications and Multimedia Act,” he said. –MalaysiaGazette
