According to Azhar, the MPs are not allowed to surrender the letters by hand as Istana Negara is still under the Phase 1 area and to avoid the spread of Covid-19.

He also said that late declaration letters or those that do not fulfil the terms condition stated will not be taken into consideration.

He said, the declaration letters would enable the Yang di-Pertuan Agong to appoint a Prime Minister among the Members from Dewan Rakyat according to his discretion under Article 43(2)(a) of the Federal Constitution following the resignation of Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin yesterday.

Azhar also reminded all MPs to keep the declaration letter confidential until the Yang di-Pertuan Agong makes a decision on the matter. –MalaysiaGazette
