KUALA LUMPUR – The Conference of Malay Rulers will be held at Istana Negara this Friday.
According to a report by The Star, the conference is scheduled to take place at 2.30 pm.
Yang di-Pertuan Agong is likely to announce His Majesty’s decision on the votes of 220 Members of Parliament (MPs) in choosing the ninth Prime Minister of Malaysia.
Yesterday, the Speaker of Dewan Rakyat has requested all MPs to send their statutory declaration to Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri’ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah by 4.00 pm today.
At the same time, Al-Sultan Abdullah, along with the Deputy Yang di-Pertuan Agong cum Sultan of Perak Sultan Nazrin Muizzudin Shah also met all political party leaders at the Istana Negara.
Attorney-General Tan Sri Idrus Harun, Chief Secretary to the Government Tan Sri Mohd Zuki Ali and the Speaker of Dewan Rakyat Datuk Azhar Azizan Harun were also present during the audience with the King.
Sources from Istana Negara also shared that the Yang di-Pertuan Agong had taken the right measure by requesting the MPs to submit their choice of PM directly.
“Based on several previous cases, some MPs have more than one SD in their declaration of support.
“However, the people no longer trust such documents. Thus, the Istana wishes to resolve this properly,” said the source. –MalaysiaGazette
