KUALA LUMPUR – The President of UMNO, Datuk Seri Ahmad Zahid Hamidi not only accepted the court’s verdict today, but he also vowed to continue to defend himself against the corruption charges thrown against him involving the funds of Yayasan Akalbudi foundation.

Speaking to the members of the media right after the proceeding of his case before High Court Judge, Datuk Collin Lawrence Sequerah, he said that the decision was the absolute right of the judge.

“I accept the ruling read out by the judge. That is the absolute right of the judge and it will not stop here today. On the contrary, the defence will be made.

“My defence team will carry out their duty according to the procedures determined by the court.

“Dates have been fixed and this acceptance is definitely based on the existing legal system,” he said briefly outside the court complex today.

Earlier, the High Court ordered the former Deputy Prime Minister to enter his defence on 47 counts of corruption, criminal breach of trust and money-laundering charges involving the funds of Yayasan Akalbudi.

Collin delivered the verdict after finding that the prosecution has successfully established the prima facie of the case on all charges against Ahmad Zahid, who is also the founder of the foundation. -MalaysiaGazette
