KUALA LUMPUR – After recording a drop of Covid-19 cases for two days consecutively, the cases in the country went up again yesterday by recording 31,490 new Covid-19 cases, shifting the tally to 3,680,953 cases.

From the new cases, 31,017 were local infections, meanwhile, 473 cases were imported.

Based on the breakdown according to the states, Selangor remained as the highest contributor of cases with 8,095 cases.

It is followed by Kuala Lumpur (4,527); Kedah (3,015); Penang (2,425); Sarawak (1,903); Negeri Sembilan (1,883); Johor (1,721); Kelantan (1,647); Pahang (1,409); Perak (1,279); Terengganu (1,277); Sabah (1,216); Melaka (554); Putrajaya (201); Perlis (190) and Labuan (148).

According to the Director-General of Health, Tan Sri Dr. Noor Hisham Abdullah, 373 Covid-19 cases are currently under treatment at in Intensive Care Unit (ICU).

“223 cases required respiratory support. (94 cases were confirmed Covid-19 while 129 were suspected to be Covid-19 and under investigation,” he said.

Besides that, Dr Noor Hisham also said that 11 new clusters had emerged yesterday.

“6,415 clusters have ended and the number of active clusters is 445,” he added.

Meanwhile, 29,035 cases had recovered from Covid-19. -MalaysiaGazette
