KUALA LUMPUR – UMNO’s members who are still defending the cooperation with Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (Bersatu) are asked to evaluate the latest actions of its President, Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin, who still wishes to become the Prime Minister (PM) again.
The President of UMNO, Datuk Seri Dr. Ahmad Zahid Hamidi said, unlike Bersatu, UMNO is not that desperate to an extent of willing to sell its principles just to be in power.
“To anyone from UMNO who still wish to cooperate, trust and defend Bersatu, they should evaluate every political action and habit of the Perikatan National (PN) Chairman, who is desperate to become PM again.
“Do we still want to continue to work with such party?
“UMNO is not perfect. But, we are not desperate, sell our principles and do anything just for redemption and to seize power,” he said in a statement today.
Ahmad Zahid was commenting on the statements made by the Chairman of Pejuang, Tun Dr. Mahathir Mohamad who disclosed his recent meeting with Muhyiddin. According to Mahathir, the Chairman of PN requested for his support so that he can become the PM again.
According to Ahmad Zahid, the meeting exposed the true intention of Muhyiddin, who wanted to forge cooperation with Pejuang and other parties which are against UMNO and Barisan Nasional.
Besides Dr Mahathir, the media also reported that Muhyiddin had meetings with the President of PKR, Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim and the President of Warisan, Datuk Seri Shafie Apdal.
“They think that they stand on an ideology. It was actually for personal interests. The President of Bersatu was also reported to had meetings with the President of PKR recently although there was no further details on the matter.
“The same went with Shafei Apdal, who admitted that the Chairman of PN contacted him allegedly over the collaboration for the coming General Election.
“However, Shafei had allegedly decided to reject the request after his betrayal in PH,” said Ahmad Zahid.
Last Friday, Mahathir said that Muhyiddin met him to get his support to become Prime Minister again. -MalaysiaGazette
