National Covid-19 Immunisation Programme PICK

KUALA LUMPUR – Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin is optimistic that the National Covid-19 Immunisation Programme (PICK) is on its right track after it exceeded 300,000 doses yesterday.

The country has recorded 313,761 vaccinations per day. 6.585 million people have received their first dose of vaccine while almost 2.735 million individuals have received their second dose of vaccine.

“I would like to congratulate and thank the Coordinating Minister of the National Covid-19 Immunisation Programme (PICK), Khairy Jamaluddin Abu Bakar and the Minister of Health Datuk Seri Dr Adham Baba along with all frontliners, volunteers and Malaysians who jointly make the largest vaccination programme in the country a success,” he said.

During the National Recovery Plan (PPN) announcement on 15 June, Muhyiddin had targeted an increment of vaccination rate of over 300,000 doses per day after June.

In addition, while announcing the third focus of the People’s Protection and Economy Recovery Package (PEMULIH), the Prime Minister said that the government would speed up the vaccination process to as many people living in the country as possible.

“This is to ensure that our country can reach herd immunity and we can return to live our lives as how it was prior to the Covid-19 pandemic,” he said.

Meanwhile, Health Minister Dr Adham Baba twitted that the 313,761 doses is the highest achievement in a day throughout the execution of PICK.

“I thank the vaccinators, healthcare workers, general practitioners and volunteers at PPVs nationwide,” he said, adding that the number of vaccination yesterday is a great momentum towards achieving herd immunity.

As of 5 July 2021, 9,320,476 doses of Covid-19 vaccine have been administered.

“6,585,002 individuals have received their first dose. From that amount, 2,735,474 have received their second dose,” he added. –MalaysiaGazette
