KUALA LUMPUR – The police have received two police reports on the allegation made by a viral social media video, that two students from a school in Perak have died after receiving Covid-19 vaccine.

The Tik Tok video was recorded during a protest against the government’s measure in vaccinating school students.

The Perak District Police Chief, Datuk Mior Faridalathrash Wahid said that the Perak police have opened two investigation papers following the reports.

The investigation is conducted under Section 504 of the Penal Code for intentional insults and provocation to break public peace.

“The Perak Police have received two police reports today, lodged by the Education Officer (Health) from the Ipoh district and the Principal of Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan (SMK) Tasek Damai on 29 September 2021.

“The police reports from the two parties were received due to their dissatisfaction over the allegation on the death of two students from the school, that was allegedly caused by Covid-19 vaccination,” he said in a media statement today.

According to Mior Faridalathrash, based on preliminary police investigation, the first student, a Form Five girl has passed away on 18 August at the Raja Permaisuri Bainun Hospital due to health complications such as diabetes and she was also positive of Covid-19.

“The student had not received the vaccine,” he said.

Meanwhile, the second student was a Form Five boy who passed away on 17 September at the same hospital in Ipoh due to congenital heart disease and he also had not received the Covid-19 vaccination.

“Besides that, the National Covid-19 Immunisation Programme for Adolescents (PICK Adolescents) in Perak only started on 20 September by the government, while, the death of the two students happened before PICK Adolescents was implemented.

“The police are also investigating reports received from the two quarters; the school and district education office for further action,” he said.

Therefore, the Perak Police also advised the public not to trust statements issued without referring to the relevant parties and to ensure that the information is verified. -MalaysiaGazette
