JOHOR BAHRU – The 15th General Election (GE15) need not be held after the Johor State Election as the 14th Parliament term would end soon in May next year.

The Perikatan Nasional (PN) candidate for the Larkin State Assembly, Zulkifli Bujang said that the period is not too long, as he commented on the Deputy President of UMNO, Datuk Seri Mohamad Hasan’s statement, who wanted to request the Prime Minister to hold GE15 right after the completion of Johor state election.

“If that is their wish and objective, we can read what they want. We see that the Covid-19 cases are very high, to the extent of 30,000 cases and it may increase to 40,000 cases. Do they still want it to continue?

“If, regardless of the situation and they still want the general election to take place, we can see clearly that this is the real attitude of the leaders there.

“What happens today, they say, is for stability. What stability are they talking about if they do elections after elections. This is to achieve political power,” Zulkifli told MalaysiaGazette when met while campaigning at the Kampung Melayu Majidee Market today.

Yesterday, Mohamad said that UMNO would continue to ask the Prime Minister to hold the GE even if Barisan Nasional (BN) defeats in the Johor election.

“It is not about winning. Can UMNO demand the Prime Minister (dissolve the Parliament and pave way for GE)? My answer is yes. Whether it would be accepted or not it is up to the Prime Minister. It is not based on winning or not (Johor election),” he said recently.

When asked if UMNO can demand Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob to dissolve the parliament as soon as possible, Mohamad said that the party could and as a leader, the Prime Minister needs to obey.

Meanwhile, Zulkifli said, PN will announce its party manifesto within these few days.

In addition, the candidates from PN would also take an oath to reject corruption soon. -MalaysiaGazette
