KUALA LUMPUR – There are movements in the UMNO divisions using money to gain support, the President of UMNO, Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi revealed.
According to him, he knew about this as those involved are his friends.
“Do not wear shoes before we wear socks. Yes, we respect the recommendation from a small number of people who wanted the party election to be held before the GE (General Election).
“I know that there were movements, people go to the divisions, they paid. I knew yesterday, when they went to the Youth, Women and Puteri Conferences and paid.
“During the Melaka and Johor election, they met the G7, they paid too. I know. The world without borders. Everyone knows,” he said during the UMNO General Assembly (PAU) 2021 at the World Trade Centre Kuala Lumpur (WTCKL) today.
Nevertheless, Ahmad Zahid urged all UMNO members to unite in facing the GE and put aside all differences and personal interests.
“Don’t worry, these are my friends. I know who they are,” he said.
According to Ahmad Zahid, according to the terms registered under the Registrar of Societies (RoS), the party election must be held by end of this year, or 29 December 2022.
“The President’s post, if Tok Mat (Datuk Seri Mohamad Hasan) dares to do it, contest for it. For the Deputy President’s post, whoever dare to challenge Tok Mat. Three Vice-Presidents, fight for it. We are not afraid.
“Do not use money. Don’t. This is a bad culture. Yes, money is everything but not everything is for money… It’s not that I don’t know that there are ‘partners’ now. I know.
“Don’t think that the President doesn’t know. The President was the Minister of Defence. There were people under me. The President was also the Home Minister, there were SB under him… we know who the campaign managers are, who the Chief Manager is and who are the funders,” he said. -MalaysiaGazette
