MELAKA – Four policemen were remanded today at the Magistrate Court for seven days to assist in an investigation into instigating and receiving bribery totalling RM12,000 as a token for supplying illegal substances to the detainees in lockup three years ago.

The remand order was issued by Magistrate Mazana Sini from today until 28 June at the request of Senior Investigator from the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC), Abdullah Fahmi Mohd@Salleh.

The four suspects with corporal and lans corporal ranks aged between 35 and 40 years old were arrested at the Melaka MACC yesterday evening.

They allegedly received bribery from outsiders to bring in illegal substances such as cigarettes, drugs, food and tobacco for the lockup detainees. They payments were received from the vassals of the detainees through 20 transactions in cash or online transfer at a police station in Alor Gajah from 2019 until 2020.

Each of them allegedly received gratification between RM600 to RM9,000 throughout their offence.

Meanwhile, the Melaka MACC Director, Mohd Shahril Che Saad verified the matter and said that the case is investigated under Section 16 (a)(B) of the MACC Act 2009. –MalaysiaGazette
