IPOH – A police inspector has been found to abet in releasing Macau Scam suspects in Penang.

According to the Inspector-General of Police (IGP) Tan Sri Abdul Hamid Bador, the matter was revealed following an investigation by the Bukit Aman Department of Integrity and Standard Compliance (JIPS).

MalaysiaGazette was told that the Inspector served at the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) of the Timur Laut District Police Headquarters. The officer had released several Macau Scam syndicate members in that state.

“We will take drastic actions following the case and it is an obvious betrayal to the team.

“Prior to this, I have told all officers under me to stop such activity as it is an offence under the Penal Code and we will charge them,” he said.

According to Abdul Hamid, he will not favour the disciplinary action as it does not provide the deserving punishment.

“Disciplinary action is under my jurisdiction and the punishment is not equitable. The most serious we can get is to withdraw the rights for emolument of seven days.

“For such serious offence, I will let the Police Force Commission (SSP) to determine further action for termination, demotion, that is under their jurisdiction,” said Abdul Hamid. –MalaysiaGazette
