KLANG – The police arrested 38 individuals including 12 teenagers for illegal racing, gathering at public area during the Full Movement Control Order (MCO) and not practicing physical distancing at the New North Klang Straits Bypass (Shapadu) yesterday.

The Klang Utara District Police Chief Assistant Commissioner Nurul Huda Mohd Salleh said, those who were arrested during the Samseng Jalanan Special Operation are aged between 16 and 25 years old.

“The five-hour operation started at 5.00 pm yesterday, with the cooperation of the Bukit Aman Traffic Investigation and Enforcement Department.

“38 compounds have been issued on all of them under Section 16 of the Prevention and Control of Infectious Diseases Act 1988 for gathering at public area to race illegally and not practicing social distancing,” she said.

She said, 12 teenagers were arrested for illegal racing and they are being investigated under Section 42 of the Road Transport Act 1987 for driving recklessly and dangerously.

“The police also issued 92 summonses on various traffic offences, meanwhile, 24 motorcycles were confiscated under Section 64 of the Road Transport Act 1987,” she said.

Nurul Huda also advised the public not to be involved with illegal racing and reminded the parents to monitor the movement of their children.

“The Klang Utara IPD will conduct continuous operations and enforcements to curb illegal racing,” she said. –MalaysiaGazette
