KUALA LUMPUR – Approximately 1.6 percent or 25,920 civil servants have yet to receive their Covid-19 vaccine and their department heads would get the reason for their refusal to do be vaccinated.

The President of Congress of Union of Employees in the Public and Civil Services Malaysia (CUEPACS), Adnan Mat said that as the frontliners in executing the government’s objectives, the civil servants cannot reject the vaccine.

“98.4 percent of the civil servants have received their vaccine, however, 1.6 percent still refuse to do so.

“Although this amount is not big, we cannot accept it as they are the executor of government’s policies,” he told China Press.

According to Adnan, the 100 vaccination rate among civil servants would also provide the confidence to the public while dealing with the government.

He said, the vaccination is aimed to protect the safety of the civil servants, especially those working at the counters and need to face the public. The chief of departments would be meeting the civil servants who refused to be vaccinated and understand the cause of their refusal in within these few weeks.

He further explained that all civil servants must obey the order to be vaccinated, unless, they have the doctor’s approval due to health reasons.

“Those who join the antivaxxers movement have violated the regulation for civil servants and they can be sacked due to the serious offence,” he said. -MalaysiaGazette
