PETALING JAYA – Several youth leaders from DAP want Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim to surrender his position in the Pakatan Harapan (PH) and PKR following the party’s defeat in the Melaka state election.

Some of the youth leaders also demanded for the DAP central leadership to consider leaving PH.

The DAP Socialist Youth (DAPSY) National Secretary, Eric Teh Hoong Keat said that the defeat in Melaka had clearly shown that Anwar is no longer suitable to lead PKR or PH.

“We hope that the defeat would wake him to retreat and surrender the leadership to someone else.

“This is to enable the party to draft new strategy immediately and to lift the spirits of the people in facing the general election,” he said as quoted in Sinchew Daily.

He said, while many people are blaming the low turnout rate for the state election as the cause for PH’s defeat, the political coalition should also question themselves of why their original supporters did not vote.

The Pahang DAP Secretary, Lee Chin Chen said, PH should not accept political frogs and create various excuses to take them in.

According to him, the political drama caused hardcore Chinese PH supporters to lose their interest in voting.

“Without the strong support from Chinese voters, thus, we thinly lost several mixed areas,” he said.

Meanwhile, Tras State Assemblyman, Chow Yu Hui said, leaving PH to fight alone could be an option for DAP as it could avoid DAP from receiving the splatter from the coalition partners.

He said, those political partners did not strongly voice out for the non-Malays in issues surrounding the Timah Whisky and the closure of lottery outlets in Kedah.

“If our principles are different, then, there is no need for us to fight together.

“If that is the case, isn’t it better for DAP to leave PH so that we can fight for a universal value such as diversity, secularism, equality and freedom?” he said as quoted in Sinchew Daily. – MalaysiaGazette
