KUALA LUMPUR – The Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR) Election 2022 which begins today witnesses an interesting contest between two senior candidates for the Deputy President’s post.

The two candidates are none other than the incumbent Secretary-General of PKR Datuk Seri Saifuddin Nasution Ismail and the Vice-President of PKR, Rafizi Ramli.

Meanwhile, five candidates will be contesting for the Vice-President’s post, namely, the Member of Parliament (MP) of Kapar, Datuk Abdullah Sani Abdul Hamid; Chief Organising Secretary, Nik Nazmi Nik Ahmad; Women’s Chief Fuziah Salleh; Communications Chief, Fahmi Fadzil; and the former Kapar MP, Manivanan Govin.

Nevertheless, only one name was listed to contest for the Keadilan Youth Chief post, activist, Adam Adli.

The election will be held digitally via the ADIL application. It also involves the contest of posts for the PKR branches nationwide.

According to the prediction of the political analysts and observers, Saifuddin Nasution is the more popular candidate for the post that was left behind by the former PKR Deputy President, Datuk Seri Mohamed Azmin Ali.

His competition, Rafizi has been left rather far behind in the PKR political arena following his action of leaving the party in 2019.

He also reemerged these two weeks when Saifuddin has been fighting along with the leadership of PKR all this while.

“The PKR members are still considering if it would be worth it to lift Rafizi, who acted like a coward when he left the party in 2019,” a PKR member who wanted to be known as Mat twitted.

According to him, Rafizi is easily offended and such attitude does not portray the fighter spirit needed in PKR.

According to Mat, Rafizi is unlike Saifuddin who continued to remain loyal to the party despite he had lost in the PKR election before this.

Rafizi announced his retirement from the pollical arena in a Tweet on 10 December 2019.

According to him, he wanted to focus in his new technology field such as Artificial Intelligence (AI) and the Internet of Things (IOT).

However, the former Pandan MP made a sudden comeback and wanted to contest for the position of the PKR Deputy President.

The decision raised many questions among its party members, some even deduced that his appearance was due to his archrival, Azmin is no longer in the party.

“Therefore, he thought that this could be his chance to get out from Azmin’s shadow? Saifuddin Nasution Ismail’s political journey far exceeded Rafizi,” Mat said. -MalaysiaGazette
