KUALA LUMPUR – Prime Minister, Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob is urged to approve immediate aid for flash flood victims at the Segambut Parliament constituency.

Its Member of Parliament (MP), Hannah Yeoh said, the staff of the Segambut Service Centre and her went to the flash flood location yesterday and found that many residents were affected by the situation.

“Hari Raya Aidilfitri is coming soon and their preparation for the festive season was badly affected. The Prime Minister should approve financial assistance of at least RM1,000 to those who are affected.

“The Minister of Federal Territories, Tan Sri Shahidan Kassim needs to seek solution to overcome flash flood in Kuala Lumpur, which is getting more critical.

“Each time it happens, the damages of belongings cost millions. We can no longer use the excuse of heavy rainfall if the modus operandi of the government remains unchanged. The disaster happens in Kuala Lumpur each time it rains,” she said in a media statement today.

According to Hannah, the flash flood which hit the capital yesterday evening has destroyed a lot of things.

She said, the damages were detected in Kampung Segambut Luar, Segambut Dalam, Masjid Segambut, Segambut Bahagia, Segambut Bahagia Tambahan, Kampung Kolam Air and Kasipillay.

“I managed to visit several locations and met the residents affected by the situation.

“Huge damages were observed during my visit. Many houses were submerged in two feet water. Many residents had to get rid of their mattresses and furniture.

“Some students lost their books and school bags. Plenty of vehicles were also damaged in the flood,” she said. -MalaysiaGazette
