KUALA LUMPUR – The Movement Control Order (MCO) will be lifted beginning this Friday, thus, the government should be able to set a date for the Parliament to sit.
The President of UMNO, Datuk Seri Ahmad Zahid Hamidi said that the Yang di-Pertuan Agong had also issued a decree recently and granted the ‘green light’ for Prime Minister, Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin to call for the Parliament sitting.
He said, those who think that the Proclamation of Emergency stops the Parliament from sitting are wrong.
“Ministers, please move on. Let’s sit for the interest of the people and the country. Isn’t this a democracy country?” he said in his social media today.
He also expressed his gratitude as the inter-district travel will be allowed beginning this Friday, with the exception of Sabah and hoped that the leniency would help those affected by the limitation.
The former Deputy Prime Minister said that although the government has changed the status of all MCO states to Conditional MCO (CMCO) and Recovery MCO (RMCO), the people should not be over excited and careless about the importance of maintaining the standard operating procedures (SOP).
He said, the people are still facing the high risk of being infected by the Covid-19 as the vaccination programme which started last week would take time before it could reach the herd immunity effect.
“I also thank the police and Malaysian Armed Forces who are on duty day and night to patrol or district borders for our safety.
“Not forgetting, the healthcare workers from the Ministry of Health who fought tirelessly handling Covid-19 patients and the teachers who manage home-based teaching and learning from home,” he said. –MalaysiaGazette
