KUALA LUMPUR – The second phase of Bantuan Prihatin Rakyat (BPR) will be paid in stages beginning 7 until 12 May.

The payment involves an allocation of RM2.75 billion for 3.7 million households with 1.0 million senior citizens (single / no partner) and 3.8 million unmarried individuals.

Finance Minister, Datuk Seri Tengku Zafrul Abdul Aziz said, the payment this round has been increased according to the upgrade of payment rate to the recipients.

“If a recipient from a household used to receive RM300 in the past and unmarried individuals used to receive RM150, now, their payment have been increased to between RM150 and RM600, based on their eligibilility.

“Status check on the approval of BPR can be made from 7 May 2021 onwards through https://bpr.hasil.gov.my,” he said in a statement today.

Payment will be made for the recipients without bank account including those in Sabah and Sarawak, from 17 May onwards through the branches of Bank Simpanan Nasional.

Tengku Zafrul also announced that the appeal for BPR can be made between 15 and 30 June 2021.

“With this appeal process, some of those whose application have been rejected will still be given the opportunity to appeal and attach their relevant documents to be revised by the Inland Revenue Board,” he said.

He added, taking into the payment of Phase 1 and Phase 2 of BPR, the total amount of financial aid contributed by the government for close to 8.4 million BPR recipients is RM4.68 billion.

Therefore, as of May 2021, the total amount of government’s direct assistance (consisting of BPN 2.0 and BPR Phase 1 and 2) that have been channelled to the B40 group is RM6.59 billion.

“The government is always committed to ensure that the aid reaches those targeted to ensure the welfare of the people,” he said. –MalaysiaGazette
