KUALA LUMPUR – The Tengku Ampuan Rahimah Hospital (HTAR) in Klang denies that its Emergency and Trauma Department was vacated following Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin’s visit yesterday.
Its Director, Dr Zulkarnain Mohd Rawi said that the viral statement in the social media is untrue because the department was already full of patients.
According to the current trend at the Emergency and Trauma Department of the hospital, the daily cases is between 150 and 180 patients, he said.
Meanwhile, 117 patients have yet to receive their treatment at the department as of yesterday.
“On 8 July, the G2 and G3 wards near the Emergency and Trauma Department have been identified as the location we can use to treat Covid-19 patients.
“On 9 July, the Ambulatory Care Centre (ACC) has been proposed to change its function to a temporary ward to treat Covid-19 patients to ensure that all patients would be able to get their treatment at a comfortable space,” he said in a statement today, after a viral message and picture was distributed in WhatsApp claiming that the HTAR Emergency and Trauma Department had to be vacated for the Prime Minister’s visit.
Dr Zulkarnain added that the criteria to place Covid-19 patients into low-risk Covid-19 ward is decided by the ward management and not the Emergency and Trauma Department.
He added, the transfer of Covid-19 patients to ACC is a contingency plan taken by the hospital’s disaster management unit. –MalaysiaGazette
