KUALA LUMPUR – The decision if UMNO would be cooperating with PAS through Muafakat Nasional (MN) in the Melaka state election (PRN) would be known this Thursdays, said the UMNO Youth Chief, Datuk Asyraf Wajdi Dusuki.

“The Supreme Council member of UMNO will be having a meeting this Thursday, and we will need to wait for the final decision from the leadership of the party,” he said briefly when asked about the collaboration between UMNO and PAS in the Melaka election.

Commenting further, Asyraf said that the members of UMNO are still hoping that the cooperation forged between the two parties can remain and will be upheld.

“Most of the party members are still hoping that the MN cooperation can be upheld, and they also expected that UMNO-PAS can continue to work together. Nevertheless, it would depend on PAS,” he said after chairing the UMNO Youth Exo Meeting at Menara Dato’ Onn today.

On 13 October, the media reported that the President of UMNO, Datuk Seri Ahmad Zahid Hamidi said that the MN cooperation may not be realised in the Melaka state election.

“MN has never been registered. Thus, I don’t see any bright light for MN to be realised as what we used to do in the previous by-election.

“Let UMNO contests solo with the flags of Barisan Nasional (BN) and God Willing, the people will choose the best party,” said Ahmad Zahid. -MalaysiaGazette
