KUALA LUMPUR – The court was told that Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak has never issued any instruction to not follow any order given by Jho Low or Low Taek Jho in dealings regarding 1Malaysia Development Berhad (1MDB).

The allegation was made by the 10th Prosecution Witness, former Chief Executive Officer of 1MDB, Mohd Hazem Abdul Rahman during the embezzlement proceeding involving RM2.3 billion of 1MDB funds.

Mohd Hazem also alleged that Najib has never dissociated himself from Jho Low.

“Najib and Jho Low were very close. I followed all orders given to me by Jho low as they were the instructions from the Prime Minister himself.

“During a meeting at Langgak Duta, Jho Low and Najib were seen very close,” he said during the examination by Deputy Public Prosecutor, Datuk Seri Gopal Seri Ram before High Court Judge, Datuk Collin Lawrence Sequerah.

Nevertheless, Mohd Hazem denied that he benefited from transactions involving 1MDB funds.

During the proceeding earlier, the defence argued that Mohd Hazem could be one of the main beneficiaries from the transfer of 1MDB funds and he could have abetted Jho Low along with several other individuals.

The proceeding will resume tomorrow at 9.00 am.

Najib, who is also the Member of Parliament of Pekan is facing four counts of charges for abusing his position to gain gratification amounting RM2.3 billion from 1MDB funds and 21 counts of money-laundering charges involving the same amount of funds. -MalaysiaGazette
